The moment that you first decided to change your life, and start your search for an online business, you probably felt much as I did. At that moment I felt exhilarated, liberated, as if a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders. That initial joy is short lived though (about 10 minutes, on average, based on my research), as on turning on your computer, and searching the Internet for relevant opportunities, information overload kicks in, and you realize that it may not be quite as simple to find the perfect opportunity as you first imagined that it would be.
At the time of writing, a quick search reveals a stomach-sinking million plus results for the search term 'Online Business Opportunities'. Where on earth do you start? How do you sift through the plethora of promises out there? What is real, what is not? Should you even be looking? Rather than just quit before you even start, or just randomly choose a business opportunity, you need to adopt a logical and systematic approach. You should turn your computer off (so as not to get distracted or keeping searching for more information), and spend an hour thinking about, and writing down, what you want to achieve, how much you are prepared to invest, and what timeframe you want to see results within.
You do not have to know exactly what you want to do, but you do have to know where it is that you want to go. Your business is going to be the vehicle that takes you where you to your dream destination, and given that there is going to be some rocky terrain out there, it makes sense to choose your vehicle wisely. For me, I had very set criteria and, although I did not know exactly what business would drive me when I started, I knew the business when I found it because it ticked all of my boxes. I recommend that you do the same - come up with your criteria for your business first, and then begin searching for a business opportunity that fits.
Once you have established your objectives, you should then join an online business online forum, from which you will be able to learn about the various opportunities on offer from those who do not have a vested interest in them. Also, look to read relevant blogs; ones that have been written by someone independent, who is not just pushing one particular product or service. It is fair to say that there is, as with all aspects of life, a lot of dross mixed in amongst the real opportunities, so it will take a little time and patience to work out what is really worth dedicating yourself too. A healthy amount of skepticism needs to be kept on hand at all times.
A good analogy can be made between online business opportunities and dating. If you are trying to find the perfect soul mate, then you have to meet and date a few losers first (unless you get really lucky!), and the same applies with finding the right online business opportunity for you.
