Anne Labarr Lederer or simply “Annie Duke” was born in Concord, New Hampshire on September 13, 1965. She was the daughter of Rhoda S. and Richard Lederer. Her brother, Howard Lederer is also one of the poker pro since then. Her sister, Katy Lederer, an author and a poet who wrote a book about the “Lederer Family” and was entitled as “Poker Face: A Girlhood among Gamblers”. Duke has four children namely Maud (1995), Leo (1998), Lucy (2000), and Nell (2002).

Duke started playing poker at the age of 22, since then when she'd expertise playing poker she had been called as  Annie Legend, The Duke and/or The Duchess of Poker. She left her school, University of Pennsylvania and turned into playing poker. With the influence of her brother, Howard Lederer, she was being trained and taught by him. With a result of learning the game perfectly. Annie Duke considered her brother as one of the most respected poker player along with Ted Forrest, Jennifer Harman, and Eric Seidel. She currently won many of the higher-limit tournaments and cash games in her hometown.

One of the main event which makes Annie to be the 'Legend' is beating her brother, Howard Lederer, form four separate events at the 2004 World Series of Poker where she took the 1st place and bringing her brother to the 3rd place. With the same World Series, she won her first gold bracelet in Omaha Hi-Lo tournament. She become one of the three women including Kathy Liebert and Cindy Violette to win an open event in the same year event of WSOP. Moreover, Duke becomes one of the top female WSOP money winner and had gone into 10th place at the WSOP event while she was eight months pregnant.

Annie's favorite game is the Omaha8 or better. In the year 2006, she played at the World Series of Rock Paper Scissors (WSORPS) where she won the second annual of the event. WSORPS if you wouldn't know is an annual charity tournament which is hosted by Phil Gordon. In the event, the winner receives free entry to WSOP main event and the proceeds are donated to Gordon's charity Bad Beat on Cancer.

Although Duke is one of the best player in the recent years still she had her idol which she respect the most, Howard Lederer, Erik Seidel, Chris Ferguson, Phil Ivey and Ted Forrest.

Furthermore, Annie work with UtimateBet.com where she promotes the site and writes articles on poker. With her winnings and achievements in the poker field, she was considered as one of the most best female poker player in the world. With these she proves that women can also excel in poker which we all know ruled by males.
