Learning About The Symptoms Of DepressionLearning About The Symptoms Of Depression

Depression is a complex disorder and has multiple symptoms. The symptoms may vary from person to person and may affect individuals differently. Some of the common known signs of depression can interfere with daily life, whereas other individuals may be calm. This article will describe some of the many signs of this illness. This article will focus on the more frequently noticed symptoms such as fatigue, guilt and changing mood.

The most common known affect of depression is fatigue. Fatigue is described as an excessive loss of energy. If you are feeling tired throughout the day when normally you would not, chances are you could be experiencing fatigue. When you feel tired and out of energy it is as if nothing else matters but getting rest. No matter how much rest you get the feeling will rarely go away and most likely it will interfere will your daily routines.

Feelings of guilt, worthlessness and helplessness are also signs of depression. These affects may not always seem clear and are more commonly noticed by family or friends. Sometimes you may not state that you feel guilt or worthlessness but just thinking about it can be related to this common type of condition.

Getting the incorrect amount of sleep is a common indicator. Excessive sleeping and insomnia can both be directly related to it. Insomnia is when a person cannot sleep through the night or get a peaceful night rest. Early morning waking is also associated with insomnia. Another example is excessive sleeping. Sleeping excessively is not good for your body. When you get too much sleep it often creates a cycle and makes you feel more tired.

Having a reduction in your sex drive can also be a sign of illness. Sometimes it can cause a person to feel less confident. When feeling less confident a reduction in sex drive is inevitable. Your libido can also be reduced because it takes so much energy out of you. When you have a loss in energy this type of affection may become undesirable.

Another cause is the slowing of body movements, thinking or speaking. Many doctors feel that it is a chemical imbalance in the brain. When the chemicals in the brain are imbalanced different parts of the body can be effected. Sometimes speaking, thinking and movements will be altered during this imbalance.

Frequently changing moods are also known affects of this condition. Switching your moods frequently can cause you to become unstable. Becoming unstable can be detrimental to your wellbeing. An example of frequent mood changes is when you express feelings such as happiness, sadness, worrying and panic all in one day.

The most serious known side effects are suicidal thoughts. Having these thoughts are not normal and should be taken very seriously. Suicidal thoughts do not have to be directly related to killing ones self, it can consist of always thinking and talking about death or wondering if things would be better if you were gone.

All of the signs previously described are directly related to this common mental illness. It is important to remember that these are not all of the signs of depression and it has multiple other symptoms; however these are the more common. Many people live with it and deal with these things on a daily basis.
