Finding the time for our fitness needs can be a daunting task. All of us at some point in time have struggled to find balance in our lives. All of us have responsibilities, whether it's to our work, our family, or both, there is precious little time to take for ourselves.

When we do find that time, usually the last thing we want to do is exercise. What we need to realize is that exercise does not have to be a burden. You can enjoy your time spent working out. Will you enjoy it as much as lounging in a recliner, sipping a margarita while watching your favorite movie? Probably not, but consider some of the ways you will find pleasure with your workouts.

· Finishing a workout is satisfying. Knowing that you just completed something that can only improve your health will give you a sense of accomplishment.

· Relieve your stress. There are not many better ways to relieve stress than a good workout. Train those worries away, at least for a little while.

· Improve your overall health. No one wants to be unhealthy. Exercise is proven to decrease your risk for disease and lengthen your life.

· Boost your confidence. If you are able to relieve stress, feel better and like what you see in the mirror, you will gain confidence.

If you find a way to enjoy your workouts, especially the results, then you will be more likely to find a spot in your busy schedule for a workout. So, how do we find the time? Here are some tips to finding your balance and getting the needed time for exercise.

1. Stay well rested. Sleep is essential for recovery. Recharge the batteries so you have the energy to get that workout in during your day.

2. Maximize the time you set aside for exercise. You don't need two hours to get in an effective workout. In fact, research shows that shorter, more intense exercise is generally more effective for both weight loss and muscle gain.

3. Find ways to incorporate your exercise into work or family time. Find a gym close to your office and get your workout in over a lunch hour. Take the kids to the park and get your workout in while the kids play. Take the whole family for a day of hiking or a bike ride.

4. Watch your TV shows while you workout. Not only do you accomplish two things at once, your workouts will go much quicker.

5. Get exercise while doing household chores such as vacuuming, laundry, dusting, or gardening and mowing outside. Set a pace that gets the heart pumping and you will burn away the calories while getting tasks done around the house.

6. Have a plan. Many times the biggest problem with working out is being prepared for the time we have.

7. Don't beat yourself up over missed workouts. It's going to happen. Life happens! Don't waste time regretting a missed workout. So many times people miss a workout and then fall out of their workout programs completely. Don't let this happen to you. Stay on track!

It's a busy world and we lead very busy lives. Don't forget what's most important. Family, friends and good health are ingredients for a happy life. I realize this may sound corny but, when your take the time and really think about it, you know it's true. So start balancing your life and find the time to Get Fit & Stay Fit!
