There have been many health crazes over the years that involve new discoveries of a common food that have suddenly been found to have amazing brain health benefits. It seems like every time we turn around, someone is making claims to have a brainy health food that works miracles. The facts are that these foods have always been good for us and most of us already know this. The problem is that a good marketer knows how to turn this into their monetary advantage by over-hyping the food. There are three foods that have not been over hyped that may surprise many people in just how healthy they really are. Grab your keys, health nuts, and head to the store for these three must have brain health foods. Some of these may be hard to find so gas up your car.

The Bean-Cacao

A few years ago, someone said that chocolate is very healthy for you. Sales of chocolate went up a little bit. Then, someone said that chocolate promotes a small high of well being and can trigger a small euphoric feeling like love. Sales of chocolate went through the ceiling. This goes to show you that most people will react a little if they believe it to be healthy and over react if it means a buzz. The fact is, chocolate is not as healthy once it becomes chocolate. The bean it is made from is an amazing brain food that improves the memory and cognitive powers. It contains antioxidants and theobromine most of which is processed out of the beans when it is turned into chocolate. If you really want the full health benefits from chocolate, including that feeling of well being, go for the cacao beans before they are processed into everyone's favorite food.

Let's Go Fishing

The majority of people, especially women, will turn their noses up at the smell of sardines. This is even true of salmon. However, the facts are that these oily fish are super brain power food. They are extremely healthy and are even being studied for use in medicines aimed at decreased brain function like dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Even if you do not like the taste of fish, you should eat two servings of oily fish per week to get the most from your brain. It is truly an amazing feeling when you begin to remember things and reason out puzzles after only one month of this healthy food.

Blueberries Are Brain Berries

Many people do not eat blueberries because they believe they will stain their teeth and anything they might be spilled on. The fact is, they are right, however, the price of expensive toothpaste is well worth it because blueberries are some of the most tremendous berries on earth when it comes to increased brainpower, among other health benefits like a strong heart. If you include blueberries or brain berries, as they are known in some circles, every single day, in 15 years you will be much better off than you would be without them. They are sold in their original, fresh form with no added chemicals and taste great alone or sprinkled over a salad. It is the smartest sweet treat around!
