How To Source The Top PR AgenciesHow To Source The Top PR Agencies

The world of PR is an extremely competitive one and as a business, either existing or just starting up, searching for the right firm for you can be a very difficult task. Especially when every company claims to be 'The top public relations firm". So here is to how to decipher the real from the fake. After all PR is an extremely important element for any business so making the right decision is crucial and one that can have a huge impact on your company.

Do your research

Hiring top public relations firms can be an extremely expensive task - so to make sure you spend your money correctly, take some time and carry out some of your own research. Write down a list of objectives that you want to achieve and then rank them in order of priority. This will instantly give you a good idea as to what your main aim should be when hiring. Speak to other businesses about their experience with companies and do your own bit of background research on agencies to ensure that they will be able to effectively help in your industry sector. A great way of doing this is trying to identify some of their existing media or business contacts. Could those people be helpful and benefit your business?

Decide upon a budget

To hire the top PR agencies in London, you are obviously going to need a substantial budget, so working out before you begin looking how much you are prepared to pay is a great way to save time. After all there is nothing worse than spending hours researching a company to find that they are too expensive. If you are worried that your budget is not large enough, look into hiring a PR agency to cover a specific event or time period. This can often have the same effect and produce great results but at a much smaller cost.

Be prepared

The most important thing to ensure before you begin searching for top public relation firms is that your business is 100% ready. Have a firm understanding of what your business is, who your target market is and how a PR agency can benefit you. If you are not sure then take some time, if you rush ahead you will only waste your time and money.

Get searching

When you start looking for an agency ensure you get advice off of friends, business links, anyone that has a firm understanding of the work that you do. Use social media platforms such as LinkedIn to gain professional opinion on whether the company you are looking at really is one of the top public relations agencies - see if any of your connections have used them before and if so would they recommend them. If you are a small business look for local agencies who would be within easy reach to have regular meetings with. Finally, use your business instinct, if something looks like it is too good to be true then it probably is!

Remember that it is your money and your business - so it is crucial to take the time to make sure you pick the right PR agency for you, not just because they say they are the best!
