Darjeeling

Kalimpong

Amid the lush and extensive foliage of Himalayan ranges, Kalimpong is widely known as the hill station of “the Raj”. The serene hill retreat is adjacent to the state of Sikkim and expands over the widespread deciduous forests that are feast to eyes.

Further the place has incredible striking backdrop of snow-capped peaks that makes Kalimpong most scenic location of this region of the country.

Mirik

The place is 41 km from Darjeeling and another most exotic location here. Ideally it is a quaint little hill where people of the country stay in a fascinating alpine ambiance amid wild flowers. The place remains surrounded by tea gardens and cardamom groves in marshy terrain.

Kaziranga National Park

In the far North East India, Kaziranga National Park is situated on the banks of River Brahmaputra. The national park covers an expansive area of 430-sq-kms with extensive flora and fauna. The park is a natural habitat for the one horned rhino. The national park was declared a sanctuary in the year 1940 and comprises many wild animals as in tigers, leopards, cats, jungle cats, sloth bear, hog deer Indian Bison, Swamp deer and many more. Few other species that are largely found here are Wild Buffalo, Hog Badgers, Hoolock Gibbons, Capped, Langurs, Jackal, and Monitor Lizards that are rarely found in many wildlife sanctuaries and is worth exploring.

Gangtok

Gangtok is known as famous Buddhist pilgrimage site and is one of the most calm and serene places to meditate. It is the capital city of Indian state Sikkim. The city is bordered by China, Bhutan and Nepal but it requires proper permits to visit these locations. Few of its eminent destinations that must deserve a watch are Tsomgo Lake, Seven Sisters, Sarasma Garden, Bakthang Waterfalls, Rumtek and Enchey Monastery. It has Orchid Sanctuary that boasts over 200 species of Orchid.The place is one of the largest Himalayan Shangri-las and tends to capture your heart with its snow-capped mountainous beauty. Further the city has Directorate of Handloom and Handicrafts that was set up by traditional Sikkimese art and handicrafts.

Shillong

Shillong is another most appealing location situation at an altitude of 1491m above sea level and is the only hill station that is accessible from all its sides. The beautiful view along its side is a strong memoir of European settlers of Scotland perhaps that’s why Shillong is known as the “Scotland of East”. The place is a hub of many educational institutes in the North-East and was established by several missionaries.

Pelling

After Gangtok, Pelling has evolved as the India’s second largest tourist’s destination and is situated in the state of Sikkim. Few main attractions of the place offer a breathtaking view of Khanchendzonga and of the surrounding ranges and is one the easy to access nearest tourists’ spots in the area. Guwahati

The destination is situated on the banks of the river Brahamaputra and the city provides a common connection to seven other north eastern states. The place is an ancient seat of astronomy and is dedicated to goddess Kamakhya also known as Navagraha, that is the temple of nine planets. The area is located around city that contains wildlife sanctuaries, archeological ruins and silk weaving center.
