Simple Business Strategies For Food SuppliersSimple Business Strategies For Food Suppliers

Market Research: The first step for any food supplier is to have a clear understanding of the current market trends and needs. The success of their offerings depends on uniqueness, edible value and also the price point. For instance, with the surge of fitness and wellness centres everywhere, people have become extremely conscious of their health and wellbeing, so products which are in alignment with the masses’ nutrition goals are a burgeoning market. Energy bars, dry fruit recipes, instant pick-me-up snack items are the present bestsellers.

Manufacturing Process: Once the product’s composition and recipe has been finalised, the testing phase begins. The samples are manufactured in a small quantity to be tested by the laboratory and to a limited team to gauge its taste and side-effects. Once it’s been approved by experts, a license to manufacture it on a larger scale and selling comes into the picture. Each unit has to conform to International standards of safety and hygiene before it reaches the masses.

Brand Positioning: Each food product has its own USP and consumer base. To reach out to them a marketing plan is designed which helps in communicating the product’s features in the clearest manner. Creatives are designed for packaging, banners, print ads and the likes to launch the product and to give the consumers a peek into the newness of experience. The pricing of the product becomes crucial – its needs to find balance between taste, affordability and novelty.

Networking Fiercely: Once the product has been launched in the market, food suppliers start work on their distribution channels. To increase their consumer base, they have to network fiercely with supermarket owners, mall owners, department store chains and similar vendors and establishments in the F & B segment. An easy way to do this, especially if they have to meet several people in different cities, is to simply hire a corporate meeting room which is well-equipped with AV amenities, conferencing facilities and the likes. Corporate meeting rooms guarantee privacy and utmost comfort, so food suppliers have to simply fix appointments with prospective clients and carry samples of their products to show and take away. These spaces can be rented as per convenience and are economical because they can be rented online in minutes and prices are as per hourly/daily/weekly basis.

Online & Offline Exposure: Start with online promotions, and if you have the budget explore ads on TV. Build an attractive website and list your products on popular online marketplaces and e-commerce sites. Get a streamlined system in place with an online/offline inventory that lists all your products by category, materials, prices and quantity. You can also run mailer campaigns and also distribute food coupons or samples in malls through promotions.

With these simple steps you can get your food business up for a kick start and tap the vast opportunity that the market has to offer.
