1) Add protein: It is not only important for strong muscles, but also supports your weight loss goals. High-protein foods take long time to digest and metabolise, which means you burn more calories while processing them. This keeps you fuller for long hours and restricts you from eating fatty foods. Examples of high-protein foods are oats, eggs, milk, broccoli, chicken breast, paneer, tofu, almonds and Greek yogurt.
2) Limit sugar intake: Want to lose weight but have a sweet tooth? Say goodbye to sugar! By cutting down sugar and carbonated drinks, you can lose weight in two weeks! This apart, reducing sugar intake also lowers your chances of getting heart diseases and type 2 diabetes.
3) Drink water: Drinking water kills appetite and at the same time boosts your metabolism. So, how much water should you drink in a day? One glass in the morning upon waking up. You could add lime or honey to it as well. Then throughout the day drink at least 6 to 8 glasses.
4) Green tea & ginger: It contains active antioxidant compound Catechins that aids weight loss, boosts metabolism and burns fat. Ginger is also known for burning fat. Drink one cup of green tea and ginger to lose weight naturally and regain overall health.
5) Fruit & vegetables: Include weight-loss fruits and vegetables as they are high in water, nutrients and fibre. Some examples are: broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, lettuce, radish, spinach, cucumber, apple, plums, grapefruit, avocado and celery.
6) Never skip breakfast: If you think that skipping meal or not eating for hours will help you lose weight, you're wrong. Breakfast is the first meal of the day. So, make sure to eat a heavy one. Eating breakfast actually helps you lose weight and keeps you full for a long time. It also boosts your metabolism.
7) Yogurt: Packed with metabolism-revving protein, yogurt makes a great breakfast as well as snack item. It provides all the benefits of dairy without adding fat or calories. So, yogurt can give you flat abs!
8) Fish-oil supplements: Rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, fish oil supplements offer numerous health benefits, including weight loss by increasing metabolism. A fast metabolism can help burn more calories every day and lose more weight.
9) Reduce salt intake: Salt will not stop your weight loss, but it can stall it. If you consume too much salt, you will notice increase in your weight. So even though salt enhances the taste of foods, make sure not to increase its daily intake.
10) Say no to unhealthy carbs: When you're on a weight loss diet, you often tend to skip carbs. But this will not help you lose weight. Instead, eat healthy carbs.
11) Exercise: Regular exercise is also critical for long-term weight loss success. Simple exercises like walking, jogging, running, swimming, cycling and aerobics help lose weight. So, give at least 45 minutes of your time to exercise every day.
