Whenever children are together, there is a high chance of spreading infections. This is especially true for infants and toddlers who are enrolled in day-care centres. According to a recent Australian study, children in day-care were sick often but were less likely to fall sick once they started school.

Infants and toddlers are more vulnerable to infections because they come into contact with an illness they have never had before. However, there are certain measures you can take to prevent your kid from becoming sick and reduce the impact of the illness.

Improve their immunity

A strong immune system helps to prevent many of the common bugs that afflict children. So you should work on increasing their immunity. Cut down the sugar in their lunchbox, as the refined sweets prevent the cells from properly tackling harmful bacteria. Instead, pack their lunch box with healthy foods like vegetables and fresh fruits. Several studies show that a healthy diet that is rich in iron and plenty of sleep boosts the immune system.

Insist on clean hands

You know how important it is to wash the hands. You can reduce the spread of germs by teaching your child to wash their hands before they eat.  Yes, washing hands is imperative to prevent germs from spreading at dee why early childhood centre. Your kid should learn this habit at an early age, as they are more likely to come into contact with contaminated toys, runny noses, and other things in the day-care setting.

Ask the caretaker to wash your child’s hands before they eat. If your child is old enough, teach them to use running water, lather their hands well with soap, scrub their hands for at least 20 seconds and rinse their hands finally.

Pick a day-care with a sick-child policy

Though most of the child care centres have strict rules about children coming to day-care sick, many are lenient. So if possible, try to choose the child care centres dee why that does not allow children if they are sick.

Tour the facility

Visit the day-care to find out where your children will spend their time and how clean the facility is maintained. Check the condition of the classrooms as well. They should be proper ventilation with plenty of space for children to play.
